Descripción : ABSTRACT: The present research was carried out with the objective of analyzing the knowledge about oral hygiene and habits of parents and teachers and their influence on the oral health of schoolchildren sector 3- Riobamba. The research was descriptive, cross-sectional. The study population consisted of 100 medical records of the boys and girls, as well as their 100 mothers and fathers. The techniques used for data collection were observation and the test with their respective instruments, the medical history and the questionnaire. The results obtained in this research showed that 67.0% have a DMFT and ceod index in the moderate range, that is, 2.6. In the same way, the plaque index, the schoolchildren showed 53.0% in the moderate range, observing that the plaque index is closely related to the DMFT and ceod index. Regarding the age of the students, we were able to conclude that in 12-year-old schoolchildren the CPOD index is in the low range with 31.0%, unlike 6-year-old schoolchildren who have a ceod index in the high range with a 11% showing in this way that the older the student is, the lower the decay rate, this is because students over the years learn different habits of oral hygiene. Finally, it was observed that the CPOD and ceod index are associated with the knowledge of parents, teachers and students because a significant correlation (p₌0.026) was evidenced between the answer "the father's educational level" and the index level. ceo-d and CPOD obtained from children. Concluding that the higher the educational level of the mother, the lower the DMFT and ceod index of the schoolchildren. KEY WORDS: Level of knowledge, oral health, index spo-d and ceo-d
