Resumen : La presente investigación tiene como base el análisis de la iconografía ancestral del Inti Raymi en el imaginario de los habitantes de la ciudad de Cañar, durante el periodo enero-junio 2018, además la de conocer la historia de esta ceremonia, con la investigación bibliográfica y de campo, se logró describir los principales elementos simbólicos utilizados dentro del ritual que se realiza en esta fiesta con la ayuda de las fotografías, y así determinar qué es lo que la ciudadanía entiende por Inti Raymi en su imaginario, para esto, el proyecto se fundamentó con la teoría estructuralista y antropológica cultural, teorías que tratan de estudios desde una perspectiva cultural que fue y sigue siendo base de las estructuras sociales. Para poder conseguir información adicional a los encontrados en libros y documentos referentes al tema se utilizó técnicas e instrumentos para la recolección de datos como fue las encuestas realizadas a 260 personas que habitan en la zona urbana de Cañar, cuatro entrevistas conocedoras de esta fiesta y por último la ficha de observación, todo esto en conjunto permitió a su vez realizar la discusión de resultados con lo que se llegó a la conclusión de que el Inti Raymi es una influencia positiva para la ciudad con todo sus símbolos, colores y rituales que conforman una simbología diversa que está dentro del imaginario de sus habitantes, además de ser un acto aceptado y considerado como una cultura innata del pueblo cañari.
Descripción : The present investigation is based on the analysis of the ancestral iconography of the Inti Raymi in the imaginary of the inhabitants of the city of Cañar, during the period January-June 2018, besides the one of knowing the history of this ceremony, with the bibliographical research and field, was able to describe the main symbolic elements used in the ritual that takes place in this party with the help of photographs, and thus determine what the citizens understand by Inti Raymi in his imagination, for this, the project was based on structuralist theory and cultural anthropology, theories that deal with studies from a cultural perspective that was and still is the basis of social structures. In order to obtain information in addition to those found in books and documents related to the subject, techniques and instruments were used to collect data, such as the surveys carried out on 260 people living in the urban area of Cañar, four interviews that were familiar with this event, and last the observation sheet, all this together allowed in turn to make the discussion of results with what was concluded that the Inti Raymi is a positive influence for the city with all its symbols, colors and rituals that make up a diverse symbology that is within the imagination of its inhabitants, besides being an accepted act and considered as an innate culture of the Cañari people.
