Descripción : The objective was to study the kinetics of adsorption in the removal of color by the use of clays using synthetic water samples. With two types of dyes, one anionic "Drimaren Amarillo CL-2R" and another cationic "Basic Azul Marino 2 RN", using as adsorbent material three types of clays from the natural deposits of Cochancay, Santa Clara and Shirahuan. These were subjected to a characterization process by means of x-ray fluorescence spectroscopy, x-ray diffraction, cation exchange capacity, specific surface area and net zero charge point. The retained amounts of the dyes were examined by ultraviolet-visible spectroscopy. We studied the effect of pH, the effect of the contact time of the adsorbate with the adsorbent, the effect of the initial concentration of the dye, and the effect of the amount of clay, the results obtained conclude that the three clays exhibit an efficacy to remove the dye cationic of 95-99%, for the anionic dye the clays have a different behavior being their greater removal 87%, by means of these results the adsorption isotherms are obtained that describe the behavior of the adsorbate-adsorbent interactions, obtaining that for the cationic dye the three types of clays fit well with the Temkin isotherm, and for the anionic dye the Langmuir model fits well with the data, finally a kinetic model of adsorption was defined, the results show that for both types of dyes the "pseudo second order" model is that the best fits.
