Resumen : El presente trabajo investigativo titulado: “La Institucionalización y el Desarrollo Neuropsicológico en niños de la Casa Hogar San Carlos- Riobamba, período abril- septiembre 2016”, tiene como objetivo: Determinar el Desarrollo Neuropsicológico en niños institucionalizados. El diseño de la investigación utilizado fueron cuantitativo, no experimental y bibliográfico documental, el tipo de investigación fue de campo y transversal y el nivel de la investigación es descriptiva. La población investigada estuvo conformada por 35 niños, niñas y adolescentes menores de 18 años institucionalizados en la Casa Hogar San Carlos; la muestra es no probabilística, se seleccionó bajo los criterios de inclusión y exclusión, y constituyen 10 niños menores de 18 años con medida de acogimiento institucional permanente. Las técnicas e instrumentos de recolección de datos utilizados son: la Ficha de Registro y la Evaluación de Desarrollo Neuropsicológico (ENI). Entre los resultados más importantes se mencionan: la causa que prevalece para que un niño sea institucionalizado es la negligencia con un 50%, repercutiendo negativamente en su desarrollo neuropsicológico, de los 10 niños evaluados el 8% se encuentra en un nivel extremadamente bajo en el total de pruebas aplicadas, lo que ha afectado en un 40% de las funciones mentales superiores, entre estas tenemos: atención, memoria, funciones ejecutivas, aritmética. Al finalizar la investigación, se propusieron estrategias de intervención neuropsicológica para estimular las áreas con mayor déficit en los niños institucionalizados de Casa Hogar “San Carlos”- Riobamba.
Descripción : The present research paper titled: "Institutionalization and Neuropsychological Development in children from Casa Hogar San Carlos - Riobamba, from April to September 2016", aims to: Determine the Neuropsychological Development in institutionalized children. The research design used were quantitative, non-experimental and bibliographic documentary, the type of research was field and transverse and the level of research is descriptive. The research population consisted of 35 children and adolescents under 18 years old institutionalized in Casa Hogar San Carlos; The sample is non-probabilistic, selected under the inclusion and exclusion criteria, and constitute 10 children under 18 years of age with a permanent institutional care measure. The techniques and instruments of data collection used are: the Registration Form and the Neuropsychological Development Evaluation (ENI). Among the most important results are mentioned: the prevailing cause for a child to be institutionalized is negligence with 50%, negatively impacting on his neuropsychological development, of the 10 children evaluated, 8% is at an extremely low level in the Total of applied tests, which has affected in 40% of the higher mental functions, among these we have: attention, memory, executive functions, arithmetic. At the end of the research, strategies of neuropsychological intervention were proposed to stimulate the areas with the greatest deficit in the institutionalized children of Casa Hogar "San Carlos" - Riobamba.
