| dc.description | Tourism is a social phenomenon that significantly impacts the development of the country; however, practices oriented mainly to economic well-being are maintained without considering the need to preserve the cultural and environmental heritage, even affecting the well-being of residents; therefore, community participation is necessary to achieve sustainable tourism that generates a sense of belonging and ensures that tourism growth is inclusive and equitable. Within this framework, the present study aims to analyze the level of community participation in tourism sustainability in the Historic Center of the city of Riobamba based on the study of indicators established by the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) around three dimensions, community access to information related to tourism sustainability, impact of information and actions that determine community participation in tourism development. The approach applied in the research was quantitative-descriptive; two surveys were used to collect information directed to a probabilistic sample of providers of tourist establishments and merchants and residents of the historic center of the city of Riobamba, and a survey directed to the authority in charge of tourism management of the municipal GAD of the canton. It was determined that the level of community participation in the tourist development of the Historic Center is weak, which is expressed in the preponderance of the option never concerning access and impact of information on tourist sustainability, as well as concerning the execution of actions that determine community participation in the analysis, discussion of needs and proposals aimed at strengthening tourism. It is concluded that information on tourist sustainability needs to be improved, has a significant impact, and leads to the generation of proposals, projects, and tourism plans with little participation. | es_ES |
| dc.description.abstract | El turismo es un fenómeno social que impacta significativamente en el desarrollo del país, sin embargo, se mantienen prácticas orientadas principalmente al bienestar económico, sin considerar la necesidad de preservar el patrimonio cultural y ambiental, afectando incluso el bienestar de los residentes; por lo que es necesario la participación comunitaria para alcanzar un turismo sostenible que genere un sentido de pertenencia y asegure que el crecimiento turístico sea inclusivo y equitativo. En ese marco, el presente estudio tiene como objetivo analizar el nivel de participación comunitaria para la sostenibilidad turística del Centro Histórico de la ciudad de Riobamba a partir del estudio de indicadores establecidos por la Organización Mundial del Turismo (OMT), alrededor de tres dimensiones, acceso de la comunidad a información relacionada con sostenibilidad turística, impacto de la información y acciones que determinan la participación comunitaria en el desarrollo turístico. El enfoque aplicado en la investigación fue cuantitativo – descriptivo, se utilizó para la recolección de información dos encuestas dirigidas a una muestra probabilística de prestadores de los establecimientos turísticos y a los comerciantes y residentes del centro histórico de la ciudad de Riobamba; y, una encuesta dirigida a la autoridad encargada de la gestión turística del GAD municipal del cantón. Se determinó que el nivel de participación de la comunidad en el desarrollo turístico del Centro Histórico es débil, lo que se expresa en la preponderancia de la opción “nunca” respecto al acceso e impacto de la información sobre sostenibilidad turística; así como respecto a la ejecución de acciones que determinan la participación comunitaria en el análisis, discusión de necesidades y propuestas orientadas al fortalecimiento del turismo. Se concluye que la información sobre sostenibilidad turística es deficiente, no tiene un impacto significativo y conlleva a la generación de propuestas, proyectos y planes de turismo poco participativos. | es_ES |
