Description: This investigation was conducted to determine how Communicative Language Teaching (CLT) has an effect on the speaking abilities of Third Year students enrolled at Unidad Educativa Miguel Ángel León Pontón. The approach taken by this study is qualitative, descriptive and interpretive in nature. A semi-structured interview with the English teacher, interviews with 5 students based upon their academic performance, and a checklist used to record observations were utilized to gather data for the study. The research results indicate that cooperative and interactive activities (i.e., pair and group work, role-playing, etc.) increased the amount of time students participated in speaking, improved their self-confidence and developed increased interaction amongst students in the classroom. Motivation of students, adequate teacher support, and opportunities for communication were all factors that contributed positively to improving speaking performance. However, anxiety about making mistakes, fear of failure, limited vocabulary skills, and poor pronunciation had a negative effect on students' communication ability. It was concluded that Communicative Language Teaching promoted a supportive learning environment and contributed to the improvement of students’ speaking skills through meaningful communication and active participation.</summary>

Description: Academic writing in English as a Foreign Language (EFL) presents one of the most demanding competencies for university-level students, particularly in Ecuador, where a lack of English exposure outside of the classroom and sporadic educational feedback have historically hampered their growth of linguistic correctness, discourse structure, and argumentative depth. This study explores the impact of Written Corrective Feedback (WCF) on the progress of academic writing abilities among five seventh-semester undergraduates of the Pedagogy of National and Foreign Languages Major at the National University of Chimborazo (UNACH). Using a mixed-method research approach, the data were gathered and triangulated using the instruments: an analytical rubric for the pre- and post- intervention, and a semi-structured interview. By intervention whole participants showed progress in six rubric criteria: argumentative elaboration, evidential integration, and academic lexical register. Thus, Written Corrective Feedback functions as a transformative strategy that propels EFL academic writing development in a disciplinary academic writing setting.</summary>

Description: English language in today’s world serves as a tool for communication and all backgrounds individuals’ development. Nevertheless, in rural and indigenous communities, English instruction is perceived as disconnected from students’ reality, which reduces their motivation and interest in learning it. This fact, highlights the need to incorporate culturally responsible methodologies which foster linguistic competence and cultural connection. For that reason, this study analyzed, from a sociocultural perspective, the impact of English language learning on the development of 10th EGB students of U.E “José Antonio Lizarzaburu” at Santa Fe de Galan parish, Guano canton. The study employed a mixed-methods approach with an embedded design, integrating pre-experimental and biographical-narrative methods. Quantitative data were collected through test (pre-post) and a sociocultural awareness scale based on the ELPAC and CAS models, while qualitative information were collected using classroom observations, semi-structured interviews, and focus groups. After 12 sessions of intervention using experiential activities with intercultural focus, the findings indicate a notable improvement in both variables, with progress in English from Novice English Learning (44,61%) to Intermediate English Learner (66,59%); and an increase from medium (72.46%) to high (75.72%) levels regarding sociocultural awareness. Moreover, the qualitative insights underline a positive reception of activities, which were described as motivating, meaningful, relevant, and fostering confidence and cultural appreciation. Thus, the study concluded that learning English through culturally grounded experiential activities does indeed contribute to individuals’ sociocultural development; consequently, it is recommended that these activities be incorporated to strengthen the connection between language, culture, and students’ experiences during their learning process.</summary>

Description: In the current educational context, the development of English speaking skills in the students of Educación General Básica continues to present challenges, particularly in pronunciation, vocabulary, and fluency, which limit students’ participation on communicative activities. Therefore, this research aimed to analyze the influence of kinesthetic activities on the development of speaking skills in seventh grade students at Unidad Educativa “Nuestro Mundo Eco Río,” Located in Riobamba, Chimborazo province, during the 2025-2026 academic period.
