| dc.description | Diabetes mellitus II is a metabolic disorder that affects the quality of life of individuals, families, and communities around the world; its prevalence is high in Latin American countries, especially in Ecuador, due to a sedentary lifestyle, poor eating habits, and sociocultural problems. The intercultural approach makes it possible to effectively manage the various perspectives of the health-disease process and maintain a reciprocal connection between different health cultures to provide culturally appropriate and sensitive care. This paper aims to analyze the intercultural approach to the care of patients with diabetes mellitus II in the community, describing the levels of Madeline Leininger's rising sun model present in the management of the disease to establish culturally appropriate care correlating the patient's knowledge with the nurse's knowledge and identifying the factors of education. Economic, technological, social, religious, family, lifestyle, and political factors that influence adherence to treatment to detect the main elements that limit or improve compliance with recommendations. A bibliographic review of scientific articles published between 2019 and 2023 was carried out in databases such as Scielo, Redalyc, Dialnet, Google Scholar, thesis repositories, indexed journals, books, organizations such as OMS, ONU,MSP,UNESCO,IDF and ADA.The review evidenced the importance of the intercultural approach in caring for patients with diabetes mellitus II in the community to achieve holistic and effective disease management. This approach has allowed us to know the historical reality of the health of these populations and the care practiced by them, among them the use of medicinal plants, habits rooted in their lifestyle that in some cases are usually beneficial or harmful to their health, which is why the nurse fulfills the role of educating and being the person in charge of correlating emic and etic care based on the theory and model of Madeleine Leininger, which has allowed in this type of patients a natural approach to providing care from interculturality, | es_ES |
| dc.description.abstract | La diabetes mellitus II es un trastorno metabólico que afecta la calidad de vida de individuos, familias y comunidades en todo el mundo, su prevalencia es alta en países latinoamericanos sobre todo en Ecuador, debido al sedentarismo, malos hábitos alimenticios y problemas socioculturales. El enfoque intercultural permite gestionar de manera eficaz las diversas perspectivas del proceso salud-enfermedad y mantener una conexión recíproca entre diferentes culturas sanitarias para brindar una atención culturalmente adecuada y sensible. Este trabajo, pretende analizar el enfoque intercultural del cuidado al paciente con diabetes mellitus II en la comunidad, describiendo los niveles del modelo del sol naciente de Madeline Leininger presentes en el manejo de la enfermedad para establecer cuidados culturalmente apropiados correlacionando el conocimiento del paciente con los conocimientos de la enfermera/o e identificar los factores de educación, económicos, tecnológicos, sociales, religiosos, familiares, estilos de vida y políticos que influyen en la adherencia al tratamiento para detectar los principales elementos que limitan o mejoran el cumplimiento de las recomendaciones.
